Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Veterinary Technician/Assistant to join our dynamic veterinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in animal care, veterinary procedures, surgery and client communication, with a passion for providing exceptional pet healthcare. In this role, you will support veterinarians in clinical duties, assist with animal handling and restraint, and contribute to maintaining a high standard of patient care and clinic efficiency. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians with clinical procedures including animal restraint, catheterization, and laboratory testing. Surgical skills including monitoring, intubating, extubating Perform animal husbandry duties such as feeding, bathing, grooming, and maintaining cleanliness of animal enclosures. Prepare animals for examinations or surgeries by applying aseptic techniques and ensuring proper positioning. Conduct diagnostic imaging procedures such as X-ray imaging, ensuring safety protocols are followed. Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and assisting with cleaning, polishing, and oral examinations. Maintain detailed records of patient treatments, laboratory results, and procedural notes in compliance with clinic standards. Handle a variety of animals including dogs, cats, and equines with professionalism and gentle handling techniques. Assist in laboratory work such as sample collection, processing, and basic analysis to aid in diagnosis. Support pet owners through education on pet care, vaccination schedules, and post-procedure instructions. Ensure the clinic environment remains sterile and organized by adhering to strict infection control protocols. Qualifications Proven experience as a veterinary technician or assistant with knowledge of veterinary terminology and animal physiology. Demonstrated proficiency in animal handling, restraint techniques, and dog training skills. Experience working with laboratory equipment and conducting diagnostic tests such as X-ray imaging. Familiarity with dental terminology and procedures related to pet dental health. Knowledge of aseptic techniques, pet grooming practices, and pet care essentials. Ability to perform animal catheterization and manage complex cases involving critical veterinary care. Strong understanding of animal anatomy across different species including equine experience is a plus. Excellent communication skills for effectively interacting with clients and team members in a professional manner. Certification or licensing as required by local regulations is preferred but not mandatory; relevant veterinary technician experience is highly valued.
