Job Description

Part-Time Animal Care Attendant Upper Charles Animal Hospital is a rapidly growing, privately owned small animal practice serving dogs and cats in the greater Bellingham area. We pride ourselves on providing an exceptional client experience while delivering high-quality veterinary care at an affordable price. We are seeking a dedicated, caring, and reliable Part-Time Animal Care Attendant to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with animals, takes pride in maintaining a clean and organized environment, and is interested in learning more about veterinary medicine. For the right candidate, there is potential for additional hours and expanded responsibilities, including training and opportunities to assist our veterinary technicians. 2:00 PM•5:00 PM Additional hours may be available based on hospital needs and employee interest. Kennel Assistant Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Walking, feeding, and providing basic care for hospitalized and boarding patients Cleaning and disinfecting kennels, cages, treatment areas, and other hospital spaces Laundering bedding and maintaining cleanliness throughout the facility Monitoring patient comfort and reporting concerns to veterinary staff Assisting with animal restraint as directed by doctors and technicians Stocking supplies and maintaining organized work areas Assisting with receiving and putting away deliveries Supporting doctors, technicians, and reception staff as needed Helping maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for patients, clients, and staff
Growth Opportunities:
Candidates with a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and interest in veterinary medicine may have opportunities for additional hours and expanded responsibilities. Depending on aptitude and hospital needs, training may be provided to assist with veterinary technician support duties, including patient handling, treatment preparation, and other technical tasks under appropriate supervision.
Qualifications:
Genuine interest in animal care and welfare Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Dependable, punctual, and self-motivated Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to lift, bend, stand, and work comfortably around dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments Willingness to learn new skills and contribute positively to the team Experience working with animals is preferred but not required Veterinary, kennel, boarding, or animal husbandry experience is a plus Current resume required Our practice provides excellent tools to foster employee growth while maintaining the highest standard of care for our patients. We are equipped with digital radiography, digital dental radiography, abdominal ultrasound capabilities, and a comprehensive in-house laboratory. Our recently renovated, paperless hospital utilizes modern technology and workflows to create an efficient and positive experience for both clients and staff.
