This role combines front desk responsibilities with hands-on animal care support, ensuring a positive experience for clients and their pets while assisting our veterinary team with essential clinical tasks. Duties Greet clients warmly upon arrival and assist with check-in and check-out procedures, ensuring a smooth flow of appointments. Manage appointment scheduling, phone inquiries, and client communication to keep the clinic organized and efficient. Handle animal restraint safely during examinations and treatments, utilizing proper techniques to ensure comfort for pets and safety for staff. Assist with medication administration, including oral, topical, or injectable treatments under veterinary supervision. Support veterinary technicians and veterinarians with animal handling during procedures such as catheterization or laboratory sample collection. Maintain accurate medical records, update patient files, and document clinical notes in compliance with clinic protocols. Perform basic kennel duties including animal husbandry, feeding, cleaning, and monitoring pet behavior to promote well-being. Assist with laboratory tasks such as sample processing or preparing materials for diagnostic testing. Ensure aseptic techniques are followed during clinical procedures to prevent infection and maintain a sterile environment. Provide compassionate pet care support by understanding animal physiology and anatomy to handle animals effectively during examinations or treatments. Skills Proven experience working in veterinary clinics or animal shelters with knowledge of veterinary terminology and protocols. Strong animal handling skills across various species including dogs, cats, and equines; experience with dog handling is highly valued. Knowledge of animal restraint techniques and medication administration methods to ensure safety during clinical procedures. Familiarity with laboratory procedures, aseptic technique, and basic veterinary assistant responsibilities. Excellent communication skills for interacting confidently with pet owners and team members alike. Ability to multitask efficiently in a busy environment while maintaining attention to detail. Experience with kennel management, animal husbandry, and pet care routines that promote health and comfort. Understanding of veterinary critical care practices is a plus for supporting urgent patient needs.
