Job Description

Please note: This position is for full-time, year round work. It is not open to students looking for summer employment/experience.
Please note:
due to our urban location, we do not have any parking available for staff. If you are not able to commute via public transportation, walking, or biking, then we are likely not a good fit for you. Cambridge Cat Clinic is a feline-only private veterinary clinic located in Cambridge's Inman Square. We are seeking experienced and enthusiastic Veterinary Assistants . We pride ourselves on providing the highest level of medical care possible for our patients. As a cat-only practice, we are highly attuned to the unique needs of our feline patients (as well as those of their owners), and emphasize a personalized, non-corporate approach to veterinary care. This role requires compassion, empathy, and the ability to form genuine and caring relationships with both our patients and their wonderful parents. Assistants must be comfortable working with cats who may be anxious or fractious. The Cambridge Cat Clinic family is a small team, making it essential for staff to be cross-trained to assist with all functions required to support routine patient care (including front desk operations). Veterinary Assistants' primary responsibilities are supporting our veterinarians during appointments, acting as liaisons between our clients and veterinarians, filling medications, addressing phone calls, and using our practice management software (ezyVet). Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Initiating appointments and obtaining patient histories Feline handling and restraint Patient care (i.e. medication administration and basic triage) Assisting Veterinarians and Technicians with examination and outpatient procedures (i.e. radiographs, ultrasound, laboratory sample collection and processing, etc.) Front Desk duties (answering phones, accurately relaying medical information from client to veterinarian & vice-versa, booking appointments, invoicing, etc.) Entering patient medical information into the practice management software Filling prescriptions Client care and education Basic housekeeping Preferred Education and/or
Skills:
Previous animal handling experience (especially with feline patients!) is preferred. Previous experience in a veterinary clinic (ideally 1+ years) is preferred. Bachelor's Degree/Some College Education preferred. High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
