Veterinary Assistant

About us Pleasantville Animal Hospital of Fallston is a family owned, private clinic that provides care for dogs, cats, and birds. Familiarity/experience with birds is not required. We pride ourselves on the familial relationships we form with our clients and patients, some of which have been with us for 25 years or more. At least 2 years of previous experience in the veterinary field is preferred. The basic skills required of our veterinary technicians/assistants include: Arrive promptly at the start of your shift to help care for hospitalized patients Assist veterinarian with wellness and sick exams Obtain history from owners concerning their pet's presenting complaint if coming in for sick appointment Routine, safe restraint of both dogs, cats, birds and poultry Assist veterinarians in sedating, anesthetizing, and intubating surgical patients Performing in-house laboratory diagnostics and digital radiography Cleaning cages, running laundry, and caring for hospitalized patients staying with us for boarding. Professional and friendly communication skills when interacting with clients and staff Based on experience level , you may be expected to perform the following tasks: Filling prescription medications Administer oral/injectable medications Placement of IV catheters and venipuncture for blood draws in surgical or hospitalized patients Radiographs Monitoring anesthesia Dental prophylaxis We are hiring for full-time shifts Hourly wage is commensurate on experience.
