This position is for two-three twelve hour shifts for overnight care of our surgical patients. Job Summary Join our dedicated overnight veterinary team as a Veterinary Assistant, where your passion for animal care and veterinary medicine will shine! In this vital role, you will provide exceptional support to our veterinary professionals by assisting with animal handling, medical procedures, and patient monitoring during overnight hours. Your energetic and proactive approach will ensure our animal patients receive the highest quality care while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized environment. Responsibilities Assist with animal restraint, positioning, and handling to ensure safe and stress-free procedures for pets of all sizes, including dogs, cats, and equines. Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments accurately following veterinary instructions while maintaining aseptic techniques. Monitor hospitalized animals overnight, recording vital signs, observing behavior, and noting any changes in condition for veterinary review. Support laboratory procedures such as sample collection, processing, and basic diagnostic testing to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning. Maintain detailed records of patient care, medication administration, and treatment progress in compliance with clinic protocols. Prepare animals for surgery or diagnostic imaging by ensuring proper restraint and positioning; assist during procedures as needed. Keep the clinic environment clean, sanitized, and organized—restocking supplies, disinfecting kennels, and ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times. Experience Previous kennel experience or animal husbandry background is highly desirable. Experience working in a veterinary clinic or hospital setting is preferred; familiarity with veterinary terminology is a plus. Hands-on veterinary technician or assistant experience that includes animal restraint, medication administration, and patient monitoring. Knowledge of animal physiology, anatomy, and aseptic techniques to support clinical procedures effectively. Skills in animal handling across different species—including dogs and horses—are beneficial. Laboratory experience or familiarity with diagnostic testing enhances your ability to contribute to patient diagnostics. Strong understanding of pet care practices combined with excellent communication skills for front desk support when needed.
