The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the veterinary team with various tasks including administering medications, preparing basic instruments, operating equipment and updating medical records. Candidates must be detail-oriented and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Keeps informed on developments in the field of veterinary medicine. Be able to assist doctors with routine procedures, such as giving shots, setting limbs, and cleaning teeth. Have fundamental knowledge of animal physiology and anatomy, including the physiology and anatomy of domestic animals. Know terminology used to describe animals' physical characteristics and medical conditions. Be able to perform basic laboratory procedures, including taking temperatures, drawing blood samples and preparing slides; be able to identify abnormalities in slides using a microscope. Be able to administer general anesthetic to animals; be able to assist medical personnel with more advanced surgical procedures. Be able to assist with general office duties.
