• Full-time Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Avery Animal Clinic.

The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to pets while assisting veterinarians and veterinary technicians in various tasks. This position requires a strong understanding of animal handling, veterinary terminology, and the ability to work efficiently with a positive attitude. Duties Client Interaction Kindly greet clients and provide updates on their pets. Assist with client education regarding home care, medications, and procedures. Obtain accurate medical histories and relay them to the veterinary team. Diagnostics & Laboratory Work Perform and assist with routine diagnostic tests including ear cytology, skin scraping, tape cytology, etc In-house laboratory tests (e.g., blood work, urinalysis) and preparing lab samples for external analysis. Obtain diagnostic radiographs (positioning patients, operating radiograph equipment, following safety protocols). Animal Care & Handling Safely restrain animals during exams, treatments, diagnostics, and procedures ensuring patient comfort. Monitor and report changes in animal behavior or condition. Provide basic animal care (feeding, walking, cleaning cages, etc.). Medication & Treatment Assistance Administer oral, topical, and injectable medications and treatments under supervision. Maintain accurate records of treatments and medications administered. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including kennels and treatment areas. Accurately prepare and administer medications as directed by the veterinarian or veterinary technician. Act as a positive and professional addition to the work culture. Experience Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant or in a similar role required. Familiarity with veterinary terminology and animal anatomy is highly beneficial. Skills in restraint, venipuncture, obtaining basic diagnostics required. A commitment to providing compassionate care to all patients and ensuring client satisfaction is essential.
