Job Description
We are an independently-owned, single-doctor practice. We are looking for an upbeat individual with excellent communication skills and a strong desire to work as part of a close-knit team. Flexibility and eagerness to learn new skills are both necessary and rewarded. Experience is preferred but not required. We are looking for a team member who values respectful and forthright communication, cares about client education, takes responsibility for their actions in the workplace, and is supportive of other team members. Duties are primarily as an assistant, secondarily front-desk duties as needed Animal handling (safe and compassionate restraint during e.g. exams, vaccinations, microchipping, blood draws, radiographs) Take patient history and weigh patients Prepare lab tests and run in-clinic tests Making rooms ready by: Cleaning & disinfecting examination tables and rooms Laundry Mopping as needed & weekly Restocking Assist in monitoring anesthesia for medical, surgical and dental procedures Fill prescriptions Answer communications from clients by phone, email, and text Checkout clients and schedule appointments Miscellaneous grooming (minor hair/coat clipping, nail trims, anal gland expression) Other duties Skills Very comfortable with dogs and cats Very comfortable with in-person interactions Comfortable with phone conversation English language verbal and written competency required Clean & orderly with good organizational skills Comfortable learning a new computer system/program Schedule 8:40am-4:00pm(M- F) (about 36.5 hours/week) Paid 1-hour break each shift (can be taken as a full hour for lunch or broken up) Physical Requirements You must be able to engage in the following: Frequent bending/squatting down Frequent working at eye level Lifting of animals up to 50 lb occasionally (primarily use lift table) Sitting and working at a computer
