Veterinary Assistant

Job Overview We are looking for an experienced veterinary assistant. There is a possibilty that the hours will expand. Right now we are in need of Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays 8:30-5:00. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team in providing exceptional care for animals. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal welfare and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced veterinary clinic environment. This role involves assisting veterinarians and veterinary technicians in delivering high-quality medical care, as well as providing support to pet owners. Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures. Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including treatment areas and kennels. Prepare and administer medications as directed by the veterinarian. Collect samples for laboratory testing and perform basic laboratory procedures. Educate pet owners on proper animal care, including nutrition, hygiene, and preventive health measures. Manage front desk responsibilities, including scheduling appointments and processing patient records. Provide compassionate care to animals in the kennel area, ensuring their comfort and well-being. Requirements Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting is preferred. Knowledge of veterinary terminology is a plus. Skills in dog handling and equine care are beneficial. Familiarity with laboratory procedures related to animal health is an asset. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members. Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail. A genuine love for animals and commitment to their welfare is essential.
