If you have 2 years of veterinary experience and want to make a difference in the quality of life for pets and pet parents and you are a Technical Veterinary Assistant, we want you to apply. The Animal Emergency and Specialty Center (AESC) is a fast paced 24-hour, multi-specialty practice. We provide emergency, critical care, surgery, chemotherapy, and canine and animal rehabilitation therapy care to the patients of over 75 referring hospitals from Northern Nevada as well as California. We have two surgical suites and specialized equipment that includes telemetry, endoscopy, computed tomography (CT scanner), ultrasound to include cardiac echos, laparoscopy, digital radiography, with up-to-date ventilators and anesthesia monitoring, syringe pumps, full in-house laboratory and more. Our surgery team consists of highly skilled technicians and assistants that provide support to our board-certified surgeon. Our team prides itself on exceptional surgical care for our pet patients and believes in client education and support. Our surgery team members play a role in providing client and patient care starting from a pet's consultation through their post-surgery exams. The surgery assistants are responsible for preparing patients for surgery, monitoring patients while anesthetized, and providing support while patients recover from anesthesia. Candidate knowledge of surgical instruments, instrument preparation, and OR protocols are strongly encouraged. Candidate must be willing to surgery prep including shaving, scrubbing, sterile field setup, instrument sterilization, and operating room cleaning and set up. Our surgery patient care team communicates with owners regarding presurgical care and post-surgery care, including at home care and discharges. We are looking for an assistant who can provide exceptional patient care and communicate well with owners. In addition to surgical procedures the surgery team also provides support with imaging procedures including radiology and CT. We are looking for a candidate who is positive, that can focus on team support, even when a day does not go as planned. This job is not only about having assistant skills, but also supporting the team and patients by keeping up with our high standard of care. Our team is here to make a difference for our patients so they can have a comfortable and happy quality of life. Educating our clients about surgical procedures and supporting them during the surgical process is an important part of the technician's role. Our Compensation Package for full time
Licensed Veterinary Technician:
Generous compensation of $21-24+/hour based on skill and experience level. Paid medical health insurance up to $500 per month or a $500/month stipend to assist you in paying for your own health insurance outside of what is offered through AESC. Paid dental and vision care.
