About Us:
Shelby Baker, DVM is looking for a new addition to the team at Damonte Ranch Animal Hospital in South Reno! We are a privately owned, 4,000-square-foot veterinary facility that opened in 2011. Our team is dedicated to delivering the highest quality medical, surgical, and dental care while building strong relationships with our clients and their pets.
Our philosophy is simple:
we don't just meet client expectations—we strive to exceed them. We are a fast-paced hospital open 5 days a week, supported by a collaborative and dedicated veterinary team.
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant who is passionate about animal care and committed to providing exceptional service to both patients and their families. The ideal candidate is compassionate, reliable, and thrives in a fast-paced environment while supporting a high standard of medical care.
What We're Looking For:
We are searching for someone who is: Friendly, compassionate, and team-oriented Energetic and motivated with a strong work ethic Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and eager to learn Passionate about excellent patient care and client service Detail-oriented and efficient in clinical support tasks
Key Responsibilities:
Assist veterinarians and technicians during exams, treatments, and surgical procedures Safely handle and restrain animals of various sizes and temperaments Prepare and maintain exam rooms and surgical areas, ensuring cleanliness and organization Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed Monitor patient vitals and provide pre- and post-operative care Perform laboratory tasks including sample collection and basic diagnostics Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records Communicate clearly with the veterinary team to support patient care and workflow Educate clients on basic animal care and post-treatment instructions as directed Support overall hospital flow and maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment Follow clinic policies, safety procedures, and confidentiality standards
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant (preferred) Strong knowledge of animal handling and restraint techniques Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure Strong communication and teamwork skills Capable of lifting and handling animals or equipment up to 50 pounds
