Veterinary Assistant Jackson, OH 45640 $11.00 - $12.50 an hour - Part-time $11.00 - $12.50 an hour - Part-time Job Summary Join our dynamic veterinary team as a Veterinary Assistant and become a vital part of providing exceptional animal care! In this energetic role, you will support veterinarians and veterinary technicians by assisting with animal handling, treatment, and clinic operations. Duties Assist with animal restraint and handling to ensure safety for both pets and staff during examinations, procedures, and treatments Support veterinary technicians with medication administration, sample collection, and laboratory procedures Maintain cleanliness and aseptic techniques within treatment areas to prevent infection and promote animal health Help with pet care tasks such as feeding, bathing, grooming, and monitoring behavior to ensure animals are comfortable and well-cared for Manage front desk responsibilities including client check-in/out, appointment scheduling, and answering general inquiries Handle animal physiology assessments and assist with basic procedures like catheterization or bandaging under supervision Support kennel operations by cleaning enclosures, monitoring animal well-being, and assisting with intake or discharge processes Qualifications Prior kennel experience or animal husbandry background is highly valued Experience working in a veterinary clinic or with veterinary technicians is preferred Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and physiology is beneficial Ability to handle dogs confidently and safely using proper dog handling techniques Familiarity with laboratory procedures, medication administration, and aseptic techniques is a plus Strong animal handling skills including restraint for various species such as cats, dogs, and horses (equine experience is advantageous) Excellent communication skills for interacting with pet owners and team members A proactive attitude with the ability to work efficiently in a busy environment while maintaining attention to detail Join us in delivering outstanding pet care!
