Job Description

Kickingbird Animal Hospital is seeking a reliable, motivated Temporary Veterinary Assistant to support our medical team during the busy summer season. This role is essential in helping maintain efficient patient flow, delivering quality patient care, and supporting veterinarians and technicians in daily operations. Key Responsibilities Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with patient care and treatment Safely restrain animals for exams, procedures, and treatments Prepare exam rooms, surgical areas, and treatment spaces Clean and sterilize instruments and maintain a sanitary work environment Support with laboratory sample collection and processing (as directed) Feed, walk, and monitor hospitalized patients Maintain accurate patient records and assist with documentation as needed Stock supplies and ensure exam/treatment areas are fully equipped Provide compassionate care to patients and professional communication with team members Assist with client interactions as needed, including basic education and discharge instructions Qualifications Previous experience in a veterinary setting preferred but not required Ability to safely handle and restrain animals of various sizes and temperaments Strong work ethic and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication and teamwork skills Ability to follow directions and maintain attention to detail Must be dependable and punctual Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 40+ pounds Standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periods Ability to handle animals safely, including those that may be stressed or fractious Schedule Expectations Availability between May and September, including weekends as needed Flexibility to support increased patient volume during peak season Potential for extended hours during high-demand periods If you are a current associate, you need to apply through our internal career site.
