Job Description

Country Animal Hospital is seeking a to hire a Veterinary Assistant to join our team. We are a busy animal hospital and enjoy providing our patients and clients with a high standard of care and customer service. We offer full service veterinary care to both large and small animal patients. We are a single doctor practice and have a fantastic staff who work well together! Must be available 7 days a week, for after hours emergencies, and for weekend kennel rotations. The ideal candidate must be passionate about animals and their care, possess excellent computer skills, client service skills, are detail-oriented and excel in a fast-paced and rewarding work atmosphere. New hires will have a 90 day probationary period. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: Review medical records and notes in order to discern the nature of the visit and any tests or procedures that may be needed. Ensure all procedures rendered during the visit are documented for proper billing. Ensure that all vaccinations, procedures, notes, etc. have been documented in the medical record. Demonstrate warmth, courtesy and professionalism in all interactions with clients. Exercise compassion and care in all interactions with patients. Communicate with clients regarding the medical status of their pet. Provide accurate information to clients concerning fees, hospital policies and procedures, etc. Instruct clients as to what they should do prior to bringing their pets in for procedures, how to care for their pets after discharge from the hospital, how to administer medications, etc. Educate clients regarding preventive medicine and vaccination requirements. Follow established procedures in order to assist our veterinarian with examinations. Keep our doctor apprised of potential problems, discussions with clients, etc Administer oral medications as directed by veterinarian. Maintain a clean and sterile work environment. Follow DEA and OSHA guidelines. Follow appropriate safety and handling of hazardous materials. Follow established hospital safety guidelines regarding radiographs, controlled drugs, animal handling, etc. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Must be 18 years or older.
