Veterinary Assistant/Technician

Job Summary Join our veterinary team as a part time Veterinary Assistant/Technician. We are looking for a energetic person who can assist our main technician in all areas of the hospital including animal restriant, laboratory assistance, surgery preparation, post-op care, answering phones and other front desk duties. Responsibilities Assist veterinarian and technician during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment. Perform animal restraint and handling with confidence, ensuring safety for both animals and staff during examinations or treatments. Conduct laboratory tests including sample collection, processing, and analysis to support accurate diagnoses. Manage medical collections such as blood draws, urine and fecal samples, and other specimen collections. Provide pet care services including grooming, feeding, administering medications, and monitoring animal behavior for signs of distress or illness. Support kennel operations by cleaning enclosures, monitoring animal welfare, and ensuring hospitalized and boarding animals are taken care of. Maintain detailed records of medical procedures, laboratory results, and patient histories in accordance with veterinary terminology standards. Handle dogs and cats with patience and professionalism while applying animal anatomy knowledge for safe restraint. Support pet owners with education on pet care, training tips, and post-treatment instructions to promote ongoing health at home. Experience Previous veterinary experience is required . Demonstrated kennel experience to ensure optimal living conditions for hospitalized or boarding animals. Hands-on experience with dog handling, training, grooming, and pet care routines that enhance client satisfaction. Laboratory experience involving sample collection and processing to support diagnostic workflows. Knowledge of veterinary terminology combined with proficiency in aseptic techniques for infection control. Familiarity with animal restraint methods to ensure safety during examinations or procedures. Experience working with laboratory equipment or performing medical collections such as blood draws is helpful.

Pay:

$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
