We are looking for a faculty member who brings energy to the classroom, excellence to clinical instruction, and a deepmitment to mentorship, someone who can translate real-world veterinary experience into meaningful, hands-on learning that challenges students to think critically, grow confidently, and pursue clinical excellence. This is a 9-month, full-time, clinical (non-tenure-track), benefits eligible position at the Assistant or Associate level with a specialization in Small Animal Veterinary Medicine located in Brookings, South Dakota. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a tripartite faculty position with responsibilities in teaching, scholarly activity, and service, with primary emphasis on clinical teaching withing the professional DVM curriculum. The successful candidate will join a collaborative faculty teammitted to excellence in clinical education, student mentorship, and program development within a supportive, team-based academic culture. Teaching Responsibilities Deliver clinically focused instruction in small animal didactic and laboratory courses. Clinical kledge in small animal medicine and theriogenology is expected. Facilitate case-based, integrated, and team-based learning to strengthen clinical reasoning and decision-making. Coordinate and align course content with University of Minnesota curricular objectives and learning oues. Provide individualized academic advising and professional mentorship to veterinary students within the small-cohort model. Mentor pre-veterinary students pursuing admission to the DVM program, supporting academic preparation, career exploration, and professional development. Contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and continuous improvement efforts. Scholarly Activity Faculty are expected to engage in scholarly activity consistent with a clinical academic appointment.

Scholarship may include:

Veterinary education research and curricular innovation Collaborative clinical research or case-based scholarship Mentorship of veterinary student research and Master of Science projects Presentation and publication of scholarly work at regional or national levels Service Contributions Participate in departmental, college, and universitymittees. Contribute to program development, assessment, and accreditation-related activities. Engage in professional service at the state, regional, or national level. Support student recruitment, outreach initiatives, and pre-veterinary engagement activities.

SALARY:

The salary and rank aremensurate with qualifications, starting at $95,000 for Assistant Professor rank.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

DVM degree (or equivalent) by start date. Expertise in small animal medicine and theriogenology. Experience teaching at the collegiate level. Strong interpersonal,anizational, andmunication skills. Valid driver's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire. Ability to work effectively within a collaborative academic team.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience teaching small animal medicine and/or theriogenology in a veterinary curriculum. Board certification or advanced clinical training in a relevant discipline. Experience with case-based, integrated, or team-based teaching models.
