Job Description

Veterinary AssistantOverview We are seeking a hardworking, dependable, and motivated Veterinary Assistant to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in staying busy, notices what needs to be done without being asked, and understands that excellent veterinary care depends on a clean, organized, and well-supported clinic environment. Our Veterinary Assistants play an essential role in the daily success of the practice by helping maintain a safe, sanitary, efficient, and fully stocked hospital while supporting veterinarians and technicians in patient care. We are looking for a true self-starter who takes initiative, works independently, and consistently helps keep the clinic running smoothly. This role involves a significant amount of cleaning, stocking, laundry, kennel care, and general support tasks in addition to assisting with patient care. The ideal candidate values teamwork, has a strong work ethic, and understands that every task—big or small—contributes to providing top-notch care to our patients and clients. Duties & Responsibilities Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the clinic, including exam rooms, treatment areas, surgical spaces, kennel areas, and laboratory spaces.
Perform daily cleaning duties including:
Sweeping and mopping Laundry Disinfecting surfaces Washing dishes Cleaning kennels Cleaning and maintaining medical instruments and equipment Routinely stock medical and cleaning supplies to ensure the clinic remains fully prepared and organized. Monitor clinic areas and independently address routine tasks without needing frequent instruction or reminders. Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with daily clinical procedures as needed. Safely restrain animals during examinations, treatments, and procedures. Perform basic laboratory testing and assist with diagnostic imaging under supervision. Monitor hospitalized and recovering patients under veterinary supervision. Communicate professionally and effectively with team members and clients. Help maintain an efficient workflow and positive team environment throughout the clinic. Requirements Strong work ethic and willingness to stay productive throughout the workday. Self-motivated individual who takes initiative and recognizes what needs to be done without constant supervision. Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain organization in a fast-paced environment. Team-oriented attitude with the ability to work independently when needed. Previous experience in veterinary medicine, animal care, or pet care preferred but not required. Familiarity with veterinary terminology is a plus. Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to clinic needs. Genuine compassion for animals and commitment to their well-being. Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
