Assistant Professor of Veterinary Medicine; OPCVM Department CVM Academic Affairs OPFL Position Category Faculty Job Description The Assistant/Associate Professor of Veterinary Medicine, CourseCoordinator, is a full-time faculty position responsible for teaching,research, and service in the field of veterinary medicine with aparticular focus on integrated course coordination. Faculty in thisrole are expected to foster student learning, participate in researchor scholarly activity, and engage in service to the profession andcommunity. The position carries primary responsibility for coordinatingveterinary medicine course delivery, including development,integration, and assessment of pre-clinical and clinical coursework,contributing directly to the mission of the University and the Collegeof Veterinary Medicine. Required Qualifications
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree.
  • Eligibility for licensure in the state of Florida. Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree, residency training, or specialty board certification in a relevant discipline.
  • Previous teaching experience in an academic setting.
  • Veterinary clinical experience.
  • Experience with course design, integration, or coordination in a veterinary curriculum.
  • Demonstrated record of research, scholarly activity, or professional contributions.
Physical Demands Campus Orange Park Florida Job Duty Job Duty Develop and deliver graduate-level courses, classes, and laboratory sessions in veterinary medicine. Job Duty Serve as course coordinator for assigned integrated courses, ensuring alignment across instructors and curricular objectives. Job Duty Utilize team-based learning and other active-learning strategies to promote engagement, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making. Job Duty Create instructional materials, including learning videos, handouts, and presentations, aligned with curricular objectives. Job Duty Establish and maintain course goals, objectives, and outcomes for lectures, laboratories, and other learning activities. Job Duty Uphold high standards of intellectual integrity and academic excellence in all teaching activities, ensuring that course content is accurate, up-to-date, and relevant. Job Duty Prepare, administer, and grade assessments, in coordination with Academic Affairs staff, that measure student achievement of learning outcomes. Job Duty Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student grades, evaluations, and performance. Job Duty Provide timely, constructive feedback to students to support their academic development and clinical competence. Job Duty Support ongoing curricular assessment and improvement through course-level data analysis and feedback loops. Job Duty Coordinate faculty participation, scheduling, and instructional alignment for assigned courses. Job Duty Participate actively in College and University committees, meetings, and assigned initiatives. Job Duty Support the development of institutional, program accreditation, and other required regulatory activities. Job Duty Develop and/or engage in research or scholarship in veterinary medicine or veterinary education that enhances teaching and contributes to new knowledge consistent with OPCVM s mission and research expectations. Job Duty Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary research projects and grant applications. Job Duty Mentor students in scholarly inquiry and research skill development. Job Duty Maintain professional veterinary licensure as appropriate for responsibilities of the role. Job Duty Complete required continuing education as mandated for all OPCVM faculty by the Florida Commission for Independent Education and other relevant licensing, credentialing, or regulatory bodies. Job Duty Demonstrate ongoing commitment to professional growth. Job Duty Foster professional relationships with peers, students, other academic programs, and external stakeholders to advance the College s mission. Job Duty Engage in interprofessional and community-based educational programs that contribute to veterinary medicine and animal health. Job Duty Promote respect for knowledge, inquiry, and academic discourse within the College. Job Duty Perform duties in support of the College s and University s mission and evolving needs.
