About You You'll play an important role in pets' lives by providing end-to-end care for our precious patients. Your life-changing work will range from the hands-on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to support services including admitting and discharging patients. Your Experience & Skills 1-2 years of clinical experience Strong technical skills including venipuncture, catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, radiographs, and lab work Powell Animal Hospital is looking for a Veterinary Assistant to join us as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community. You're Willing And Able To Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients. With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow. Safely restrain patients and assist with exams and procedures Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts. Administer medications and treatments as directed Assist with hospitalized patient care, including monitoring and comfort measures Assist in surgical and dental procedures, including dental radiographs Maintain accurate and thorough medical records Perform venipuncture and collect samples (blood, urine, fecal) Perform intubation and IV catheter placement Run in-house lab testing and prepare samples for reference labs Take and assist with diagnostic radiographs (including positioning and safety) Assist with surgical prep, sterile set-up, and patient recovery Monitor anesthesia and maintain patient safety Support post-operative care, including pain management, monitoring, and discharge education Communicate clearly with clients regarding treatment plans, estimates, and next steps Maintain cleanliness, organization, and restocking of exam rooms and treatment areas Follow infection control and safety protocols You'll Grow with Us Here, you can grow your career as best fits you through access to comprehensive learning and skillset programs.
