Job Description

Overview Do you love working with animals and take pride in keeping things clean, organized, and running smoothly? Are you someone who can stay positive and focused, even on busy days? Do you enjoy being active, tackling a variety of tasks, and helping provide excellent care for pets while they're away from home? If so, we may have the perfect opportunity for you to join our team! As a Kennel Assistant, you'll play an important role in caring for our boarding and hospitalized pets by providing daily care, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and ensuring every pet receives plenty of attention and comfort. This position requires a strong work ethic, reliability, and a willingness to jump in wherever help is needed. Duties Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kennels, cages, and surrounding areas to promote health and safety. Assist with animal feeding, watering, and basic grooming to ensure their comfort and well-being. Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques, ensuring minimal stress for the animals. Support veterinary staff with medication administration, injections, and other treatments following strict aseptic techniques. Observe animals closely for signs of illness or distress and report any concerns promptly. Help with animal intake and discharge procedures, including documentation and record keeping. Assist with laboratory tasks such as sample collection or processing under supervision to support diagnostic efforts. Experience Prior kennel experience or animal husbandry background preferred but not required; training provided for motivated candidates. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, and anatomy is advantageous. Experience with animal restraint, medication administration, and pet care enhances your ability to succeed in this role. Familiarity with laboratory procedures or veterinary clinic operations is a plus. Strong animal handling skills are highly valued. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with veterinary professionals and team members. Ability to follow detailed instructions accurately while maintaining a positive attitude in a busy environment. $9.00 - $12.00 per hour
