Our 5-doctor small animal practice was established in 1948 and has been serving our dedicated clientele ever since. Our doctors and animal-loving staff are devoted to delivering high-quality veterinary medicine while providing clients with superior service and support. Position Overview The primary responsibility of a Veterinary Assistant is to support veterinarians and veterinary technicians with daily patient care, examinations, safe restraint, medical testing, treatment support, patient discharge, and maintaining a clean, organized workflow throughout the hospital. Candidates with previous veterinary hospital experience are strongly preferred. Our Ideal Candidate Brings a positive, accountable attitude every day Thrives in a team-first environment and willingly supports others Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication Strong time, task, and workflow management Presents professionally and respectfully with staff and clients Hands-on, adaptable, and willing to jump in where needed Calm and compassionate with patients, clients, and teammates Flexible and dependable in a fast-paced hospital setting Preferred Skills Admit and discharge patients Safely restrain patients Maintain accurate patient records Support diagnostics and treatment procedures Maintain cleanliness and hospital standards Job Responsibilities Understand and safely restrain patients for vaccinations and blooddraws Administer medications and treatments for hospitalized patients Ability to learn and run in house diagnostics; Urinalysis and/or bloodwork Monitor hospitalized patients for behavioral or health changes Disinfect Kennel Cages, mop buckets, restock facility, and maintain laundry Keep treatment areas cleaned and organized Dispose of medical waste properly Vet assistants do not diagnose conditions or perform surgery —those are handled by veterinarians Who Succeeds on Our Team The people who thrive here are those who: Willingly help teammates Communicate clearly and respectfully Stay positive under pressure Remain flexible during busy days Genuinely care about pets, clients, and coworkers Take pride in quality patient care Must be able to stand/walk for most of the day and frequently may have to lift and/or move patients up to 50lbs (assistance with handling/lifting heavier)
