Experienced Veterinary Assistant Texas City, TX 77590 From $15 an hour - Part-time, Full-time From $15 an hour - Part-time, Full-time Job description Join our team at Texas City Animal Hospital as a Full Time Veterinary Technician! We are seeking Veterinary Technician to help us provide exceptional care to small pets in our community. If you're looking to be a part of a small compassionate team, we want to hear from you! Located in Texas City, TX with 1 DVM.
Job Requirements:
Assist in comprehensive patient exams, administering medications, vaccinations, and performing treatments as directed by the veterinarian. Monitor and care for the animals before, during, and after surgical and medical procedures, ensuring the animal is comfortable and safe throughout any process. Perform diagnostics testing such as blood work, urinalysis, and radiographs, and assist in interpreting results to support accurate diagnosis. Prepare patients for any procedures-surgery, dentals, ultrasounds, x-rays, including anesthetic induction, monitoring during the procedure, and recovery care. Provide compassionate client education on preventive care, treatment plans, and helping owners make informed decisions for their pet. Maintain accurate medical records, document treatments, and ensure compliance with hospital protocols. Assist with inventory management, ordering supplies, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of the hospital. Assist with answering phones and questions, rooming clients with animals, and assisting clients with animals that cannot move or walk from parking lot. Assist with euthanasia with compassion and comfort for animal and clients. Occasionally assist with reception area by checking in clients, clients picking up medications, and checking clients out from any procedure or office visit that was done for that day.
Qualifications:
  • Veterinary Technician certification (CVT, RVT, LVT) is preferred.
  • 2-3 years of Veterinary Technician experienced in clinic or hospital setting is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of animal anatomy, medical terminology, and veterinary procedures.
  • Proficiency in administering anesthesia, managing patient care, and using veterinary medical equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to interact effectively with pet owners, team members, and veterinarian.
  • A genuine passion for animal welfare and commitment to providing high level of care to our patients.
  • Physical stamina to lift(50lbs or more) and carry animals, stand for extended periods and perform cleaning tasks.
  • Must be able to work full shifts and Saturday's if scheduled.
  • Must be able to be a team player and help where needed.
