Experienced Veterinary Assistant - Weekend Urgent Care England Run Veterinary Clinic | Fredericksburg, VA 756 Warrenton Rd, Fredericksburg, VA 22406 $19 - $21/hour Full-Time Weekend Position Join Our Growing Urgent Care Team! England Run Veterinary Clinic is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our newly expanded Weekend Urgent Care service. We are a 5-doctor, AAHA Accredited, full-service veterinary hospital dedicated to providing exceptional patient care and a supportive team environment. This role is ideal for a seasoned Veterinary Assistant who thrives in a fast-paced setting, enjoys urgent care medicine, and takes pride in keeping hospital operations running smoothly and efficiently.
Schedule Weekend Urgent Care Saturday:
8:00 AM - 6:30
PM Sunday:
8:00 AM - 6:30 PM Additional weekday general practice shifts may be available as needed. What You'll Do As a key member of our urgent care team, you'll help ensure efficient patient flow while supporting doctors, technicians, and clients throughout the day.
Responsibilities include:
Confident animal restraint Assisting with radiographs Running in-house laboratory diagnostics Utilizing Antech laboratory services Entering charges and maintaining accurate records in Avimark Transferring and organizing medical notes within the PIMS system Maintaining accurate patient records Supporting patient treatments and diagnostics Assisting with hospital cleanliness and laundry Helping doctors stay on schedule and maintain patient flow Communicating effectively with team members and clients What We're Looking For Required Qualifications 2-4 years of recent experience in a veterinary hospital setting Strong animal restraint skills Familiarity with canine and feline vaccination protocols Knowledge of commonly prescribed veterinary medications Understanding of medical terminology Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Self-motivated and dependable Strong organizational and communication skills Preferred Experience Avimark experience Experience running in-house laboratory equipment Experience utilizing Antech laboratory services Experience assisting with radiographs Please note: This position is best suited for experienced veterinary assistants. What You'll Bring to the Team A High School Diploma or equivalent. A calm and efficient approach, with the ability to handle a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment with composure. Confidence and skill in handling pets of all sizes and temperaments. Strong organizational and communication skills. Proficiency in fundamental veterinary skills ranging from laboratory and pharmacy to nursing and radiology is a strong asset. Physical Requirements:
