The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and a strong desire to support veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care to our patients. This role is essential in ensuring the well-being of animals while assisting with various tasks within the clinic. Duties As a Veterinary Assistant, your responsibilities will include: Assist veterinarians/veterinary technicians with patient care Provide proper restraint for veterinarians/vet technicians Check in clients, take medical history, obtain patient vital signs. Client education. Ensure exam rooms and treatment area are stocked with supplies as needed Assist in cleaning the hospital including but not limited to: laundry, floors, taking out the trash, cleaning treatment areas, exam rooms, kennels, bathrooms and kitchen. Answer phones and make appointments; process payments and refunds Maintain proper documentation in the medical record.
Computer skills:
Able to use Windows based computer systems, Ezyvet, word processing, email, web search and other skills needed to effectively use the practice management software program.
Other:
Assistants must possess good critical thinking and problem solving skills, compassion, a positive attitude, excellent communication skills and teamwork skills. Relay appropriate information to/from clients to doctors and/or management. Moving animals from cage to cage, floor to floor, room to room. Restraining animals up to 200 pounds intermittently, lifting animals up to 50 pounds and lifting animals over 50 pounds with help Able to work patiently with clients in varying emotional states. Assist veterinarians in patient care and medical treatments including but not limited to: medication administration, acquiring laboratory samples, processing in-house and reference lab samples, pre/post-operative patient care, taking radiographs, filling prescriptions
