Veterinary Assistant 3.7 3.7 out of 5 stars Job Summary Old Bridge Veterinary Hospital is currently seeking experienced Veterinary Assistants to join our amazing team! We are a privately owned small animal hospital that has proudly served the Woodbridge community for over 40 years.

We offer a wide range of services including wellness exams, routine vaccinations, surgery, digital radiology, mobile ultrasound, in-house and reference laboratory diagnostics, as well as boarding and grooming.

Responsibilities Assist veterinarians with animal examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures, ensuring proper restraint and handling techniques. Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments accurately following veterinary protocols. Support animal husbandry activities including feeding, cleaning, grooming, and monitoring health status. Maintain cleanliness and sterility of surgical and treatment areas using aseptic techniques. Handle laboratory tasks such as sample collection, processing, and basic diagnostic testing. Manage front desk duties including appointment scheduling, client communication, and record keeping. Restrain animals safely during examinations or procedures to minimize stress and injury. Support pet owners with pet care advice and education on animal health and wellness. Requirements Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal shelter setting is highly preferred. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and restraint techniques. Experience with kennel management, pet care, and animal handling across various species including dogs and horses. Familiarity with medication administration routes such as oral, injectable, or topical applications. Ability to assisting with laboratory procedures. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in record keeping and inventory management. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients and team members. A background in animal husbandry is advantageous but not mandatory.
