  • Full-time Overview Dutchtown Animal Hospital is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Assistant and Technician to join our compassionate veterinary team.
This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic, diverse environment, providing essential animal care and support to veterinarians. The ideal candidate must have a strong background in veterinary procedures, and client communication, with a passion for pet health and well-being. Experience in animal restraint, medication administration, and laboratory procedures is required. This position involves hands-on animal handling across various species, including dogs and cats, and requires excellent knowledge of veterinary terminology and anatomy. All applicants must be committed to maintaining the highest standards of aseptic technique and animal safety. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians with clinical examinations, treatments, and surgeries Perform animal restraint safely for procedures such as injections, blood draws, and physical exams Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, radiographs, and laboratory testing Administer medications accurately following veterinary instructions Conduct laboratory tests and prepare samples for analysis Maintain detailed medical records using veterinary terminology and documentation standards Educate pet owners on pet care, medication protocols, and post-treatment instructions Uphold aseptic techniques during all clinical procedures to prevent infection Qualifications Prior experience as a Veterinary Assistant or Technician is required; 1 year minimum veterinary clinic experience as an assistant or technician is required. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, anatomy, physiology, and critical care practices is essential Hands-on experience with medication administration, restraint techniques, and laboratory procedures is required Strong animal restraint skills for dogs, cats, and other species Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Excellent communication skills with clients and team members Commitment to animal welfare and adherence to safety protocolsThis position provides an engaging opportunity for individuals passionate about veterinary medicine to develop their skills in a supportive environment dedicated to exceptional pet care.
