Job Description

Veterinary Assistant Dermatology Clinic for Animals is a single-doctor, privately-owned, referral-based veterinary practice focused on dermatological care, including allergies and immune-mediated skin and ear diseases. We are a high-quality, relationship-focused practice providing advanced care for dogs and cats throughout the region. Due to rapid growth and a consistently high client volume, we are seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) or Experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our nursing team. About the Position We are looking for a compassionate, reliable, and highly professional LVT or Veterinary Assistant who thrives in a collaborative environment. The nursing team is essential to our daily workflow and sets the tone for the client and patient experience. This role requires exceptional communication, outstanding customer service, high attention to detail and a calm, professional presence at all times. What We're Looking For Essential Qualities A warm, friendly, and positive personality Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine ability to work collaboratively with others Openness to constructive feedback and a desire to grow The ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced setting Professionalism, respect for clients and teammates, and excellent communication skills A mindset of "we want to see each other win" — supporting colleagues is a core expectation in our clinic culture Compassionate, client-centered approach with a service-oriented attitude High emotional intelligence and the ability to remain calm under pressure Lifelong learning mindset Experience Requirements One year of previous veterinary experience required (general practice, specialty, or emergency) Specialty experience preferred but not required Current WA LVT license preferred but not required Current Medication Clerk License required; we are willing to support training/certification for the right candidate Proficiency with veterinary practice management software (experience with DaySmart a bonus but not required)Professional Expectations Excellent time management and consistent attendance — reliability is absolutely critical in this role Strong attention to detail Ability to manage a high patient volume, schedule appointments accurately, and communicate treatment plans clearly Commitment to maintaining a respectful, positive, and professional environment Ability to handle sensitive medical information with discretion Duties Maintain patient flow for exam rooms, conduct review and documentation of patient records, accurately record basic vital signs, conduct accurate owner histories. Obtains and prepares diagnostic samples for in-house and reference laboratory review. Utilize appropriate restraint techniques to facilitate safe examinations and treatments; assist with a variety of medical and diagnostic procedures. Administer medications as directed by veterinarian, ensuring accurate dosages and proper techniques. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including kennels, examination rooms, treatment and surgical areas. Prepares patients for surgery and anesthesia; safely provides anesthesia/sedation monitoring in accordance with applicable state and federal guidelines. Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding care instructions and follow-up procedures. At times, may be asked to perform front desk responsibilities, including answering phones and emails and handling client inquiries. Reviews product information, treatment plans and/or discharge information with clients as directed by the veterinarian. Maintains veterinary clerk license. Employee is able to synthesize sometimes complex or difficult information and convey that information to clients in an understandable manner. Employee has the ability receive guidance from supervisors and colleagues in a positive manner. Able to maintain positive working relationships with others, including courteous and tactful behavior, and interacts with clients from a customer service perspective. Demonstrates the ability to accurately calculate and prepare medication dosages, package and label prescribed and OTC medications, administer injections as directed, and document all treatments in compliance with Washington State guidelines and clinic protocols.
