Job Description

Underdog Pet Rescue & Veterinary Services - Madison, WI Full-Time or Part-Time Available Are you passionate about animal welfare and looking to make a meaningful impact every day? Underdog Pet Rescue & Veterinary Services is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant or Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) to join our growing team. This role starts between $17-$25/hour depending on experience. Our unique clinic provides high-quality veterinary care for both Underdog rescue animals and owned pets in our community. We are a surgery-focused practice with a strong emphasis on spay/neuter services, dental procedures, and preventive wellness care . We recently moved into our brand-new clinic on Stoughton Road, featuring modern equipment including digital X-ray, ultrasound, and an in-house laboratory. What You'll Do Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, dental procedures, and treatments Prepare patients for surgery and monitor patient care as directed Safely handle and restrain dogs, cats, and other small mammals Administer medications and treatments as directed Collect and process laboratory samples Maintain accurate medical records and patient documentation (Daysmart software) Educate clients about pet health, wellness, and treatment plans Support scheduling, client communication, and other front desk functions as needed Maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment Collaborate with veterinarians, technicians, volunteers, and support staff to deliver exceptional care Qualifications Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant or Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) required Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, procedures, and animal care Experience with animal handling and restraint techniques Ability to assist with medical procedures, including catheter placement and medication administration Excellent communication and customer service skills Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Reliable attendance and a positive, team-oriented attitude Comfortable adapting to a variety of tasks in a dynamic clinic environment Why Join Underdog?
