Veterinary Assistant

The purpose of this position is to improve the quality patient care by assisting veterinarians with patient care and treatment. Technicians monitor hospitalized pets, maintain inventory, prepare prescriptions, perform routine, in-house lab work, educate clients regarding veterinary care and procedures. Veterinary Assistants work alongside veterinarians and assist them to the fullest possible extent, allowing them to achieve greater efficiency by relieving them of technical and administrative work. The Assistant performs a variety of patient- and client-care duties, conducts patient assessments, and assists with procedures and treatments, documents all care in the patient's electronic medical record. Assistants maintain a high standard of patient care, communicating clearly with the veterinarians, other hospital personnel, and clients to ensure that patients receive the care they need. The Assistant is friendly and flexible in the face of varying expectations from clients and co-workers. The Assistant quickly prioritizes, changes focus, multi-tasks and must respond quickly and calmly to emergencies as directed by the veterinarian. Assistants strongly believe in the quality of care provided and communicate this sense of assurance to clients. Assistants understand that veterinary services and recommendations are valuable to the clients. They actively promote a positive, team-oriented work environment. Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste, and contagious diseases. Qualifications:

1+ years Veterinary medical background (preferred) High School Diploma, HSED or GED Must be at least 18 years of age to apply Enjoy working with people and animals Excellent Attendance a must
