Veterinary Assistant

Our veterinary clinic is hiring a full time Veterinary Assistant to assist in the care of our animal patients. The candidate must possess the following criteria: Must have excellent attendance record High School diploma or GED certificate Must maintain a professional demeanor and treat all others with the utmost respect at all times. Must have computer skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, knowledge of Avimark is great, but no required. Must possess strong communication skills, good judgment and be able to manage stressful situations Must have the physical and mental capacity to perform in a fast paced and challenging environment Must posses a sense of urgency, and working harmoniously with teammates is required Must be reliable, dependable, demonstrate strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds Knowledge of medical procedures and animal handling At Cacapon Veterinary Medical Center, we provide compassionate, medical care for our four-legged companions. We believe in nurturing the human-animal bond and creating a harmonious relationship between people and their pets. We strive to keep our team educated and trained for our environment. We are a one doctor privately owned practice. No weekends or late evenings. We prefer at least 1 year of veterinary assistant experience. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians in examining and treating animals, ensuring their comfort and safety. Handle and restrain animals during procedures, maintaining a calm environment. Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by the veterinarian. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including kennels and treatment areas. Prioritize case loads to be sure things are done promptly and efficiently. Utilize veterinary terminology to communicate effectively with staff and clients.
