Veterinary Assistant

New River Animal Hospital is looking looking for a full time Veterinary Assistant to join our well established and growing small animal practice. Experience is preferred, but not required. We are a practice focused on both a high level of medical care as well as outstanding customer service. We do our best for pets and their people by consistently providing the best medical care, service and genuine concern to our clients and their pets. We are committed to this mission based on our love and concern for all animals and pet owners. Our facility operates with an in house laboratory, digital imaging, laser therapy, and surgical suite. We also have a grooming and boarding department. We are a privately owned, two doctor practice. The ideal candidate should be self motivated, have strong communication skills and be able to multi-task with a positive attitude. Must love animals and share our commitment to providing a high quality of care.

Candidates must also:

• Adhere to all hospital directives and protocols and maintain the highest ethical, moral and professional standards.
• Must be a team player with impeccable people skills
• Must have a good attitude
• Must be punctual
• Assists the Veterinarian with routine procedures and surgeries
• Administers medications, vaccinations, and any treatment directed by Veterinarian
• Prepares treatment plans and estimates
• Educates clients about pet health and needs
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, properly without help
• Will be exposed to animal bodily fluids, needles, and chemicals.
• Must follow proper restraint and fear free techniques
• Must maintain equipment and drug logs
• Must be able to multi-task and work quickly and proficiently
• Must answer phones, book appointments, invoice, take payments
• Will work with x-ray, dental, surgical and lab equipment
• Properly handle emergency/triage Non-certified individuals are also welcome to apply!

Pay:

From $11.00 per hour
