Pelham, AL Pay:
Starting at $20/hour (experience-based)

Full-time | Rotating weekend shifts for cleaning and organization About the Practice Animal Dental Specialists is a specialty veterinary dentistry practice dedicated exclusively to advanced oral health and surgical dental care. Our technicians play a critical role in anesthesia, patient safety, and surgical outcomes. This position is ideal for a veterinary technician with a strong interest in anesthesia, dentistry, and specialty-level patient care. Position Overview The Veterinary Technician will be heavily involved in anesthetic management, dental procedures, and oral surgeries. This role is primarily clinical and offers the opportunity to develop advanced skills in anesthesia monitoring, dental imaging, and surgical support. Primary Responsibilities Anesthesia & Patient Monitoring Prepare patients for anesthesia, including pre-anesthetic assessments and catheter placement Induce, monitor, and recover patients under general anesthesia Continuously monitor vital parameters (ECG, blood pressure, SpO₂, ETCO₂, temperature) Recognize and respond appropriately to anesthetic complications Maintain accurate anesthesia and monitoring records Dental & Surgical Support Assist veterinarians during dental procedures, oral surgeries, and advanced dental treatments Perform dental charting and assist with dental radiography Safely restrain patients for exams and diagnostics Prepare, clean, and sterilize dental and surgical instruments Maintain aseptic technique and organized treatment areas Pharmacy & Clinical Support Prepare and administer medications as directed Fill prescriptions and coordinate with outside pharmacies Ensure proper handling, labeling, and documentation of medications Hospital Operations & Team Collaboration Monitor and restock medical and dental supplies Participate in routine cleaning and organization tasks Collaborate closely with doctors and team members to ensure efficient daily operations Contribute to a positive, professional, and respectful workplace culture Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Veterinary Technician/Assistant (required) Demonstrated experience with anesthesia monitoring and recovery strongly preferred Experience in dentistry or surgery a plus Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a clinical environment Calm, confident patient handling skills Commitment to patient safety and high-quality care Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly pay based on experience Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with employer matching Paid time off Continuing education allowance and professional development assistance Uniform allowance Employee discounts on veterinary dental services Schedule Full-time Rotating weekend shifts for facility cleaning and organization If you're passionate about anesthesia, patient safety, and advancing your skills in veterinary dentistry, we'd love to hear from you.
