Tama Veterinary Hospital is an AAHA-accredited Small Animal veterinary hospital. We offer a warm, friendly, outgoing atmosphere where our main goal is to provide compassionate care to our patients and clients as well as offering outstanding customer service! We are looking to add a full-time or part-time Veterinary Assistant/Technician to our team. All positions are required to be available weekends and holidays as we are open every day of the year!
Requirements:
High School diploma or GED and previous veterinary assistant experience. Must have ability to communicate effectively and professionally with staff. Weekend and holiday work required. Must function well independently and as a team-member. RVT License in good standing Comfortable with restraint of fractious dogs and cats Ability to lift 40 pounds Computer skills (Avimark and/or Idexx Analyzers knowledge a plus) Minimum 2 years
Customer Service Registered Veterinary Technician:

A skilled veterinary technician is a crucial component to the success of any veterinary practice as they directly affect the Doctors ability to diagnose and treat our patients. The ideal candidate will have excellent client communication skills, be proficient in all areas of anesthesia, and have a strong work ethic. This is a fast-paced, highly technical environment, A qualified applicant will have experience with the following:
IVC Placement Sample Collection:
Urine and Blood Ability to Perform and/or assist in diagnostic testing A thorough understanding of anesthetic drugs, monitoring, and equipment Instrumentation and Equipment care Surgical Pack Preparation and Sterilization• Client education and
Communication Animal Restraint:
Canine, Feline and Exotic (Fractious/Non-Fractious) Dental Scaling and Polishing Dental Radiographs and MORE.. Position Details include but not limited to: Monitors animal health and well-being. Evaluates animal health, reports abnormal conditions, monitors and provides clinical treatments as directed by veterinarian, program management or designee Documents, organizes and maintains timely records in the resource software system. Provides technical services and support to staff. Animal Restraint Administers special treatments and diets as directed by attending veterinarian. Performs diagnostic sample collection and tracks results. Assists in handling, healthcare, husbandry, sampling and surgical techniques. Sample procurement including phlebotomy, tissue collection, and urine collection. Performs injection techniques, dosing, and anesthesia. Under the direction of the clinical veterinarians, duties may include suturing, wound management, bandaging, and diagnostic procedures. Ensures compliance with required regulations and consistently follows program and institutional procedures and policies. Other related duties as assigned such as dental cleaning, dental radiographs, dental CT Imaging, ultrasound etc. Ideal candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, thrive in a team environment, work well with others and possess a genuine desire to deliver the highest level of service to our clients and patients. Must be proficient in IV catheter placement, gathering and running lab samples, administering injections (IV, IM and SQ), monitoring anesthesia and working with various monitoring equipment as well as maintaining accurate patient medical records.
MUST HAVE ANIMAL HOSPITAL EXPERIENCE.
