Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and team-oriented Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or Experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our veterinary team. This role plays a vital part in providing high-quality patient care, supporting veterinarians during medical procedures, educating clients, and maintaining efficient hospital operations. The ideal candidate is confident in their clinical skills, communicates professionally, and thrives in a fast-paced environment while delivering exceptional care to patients and clients. ResponsibilitiesPatient Care & Nursing Duties Provide compassionate nursing care to hospitalized and outpatient pets Obtain patient histories and perform physical assessments appropriate to training and licensure Accurately document medical records and treatment notes in accordance with hospital protocols Safely and effectively restrain pets, including large or difficult animals Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by veterinarians and within the scope of applicable state regulations Monitor anesthesia and assist with surgical procedures Prepare and maintain surgical suites, exam rooms, and treatment areas Admit and discharge patients following hospital policies and veterinarian instructions Provide client education regarding medications, treatments, follow-up care, and preventive medicine Laboratory & Diagnostic Procedures Perform and prepare diagnostic laboratory tests including: Fecal examinations Urinalysis Ear cytology Skin scrapings Heartworm testing Fungal cultures Collect and process laboratory samples Take high-quality radiographs safely and efficiently Operate and maintain laboratory and medical equipment, including IV pumps and patient monitoring equipment Client Communication Explain vaccination protocols and preventive care recommendations Prepare treatment estimates and discuss financial options professionally and compassionately Communicate clearly with clients regarding treatment plans and discharge instructions Hospital Operations Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary hospital environment Properly maintain surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment Foster positive and cooperative working relationships with team members Assist in other areas of the hospital as needed Qualifications Current California RVT license preferred but not required Experienced Veterinary Assistants with strong clinical skills are encouraged to apply High school diploma or equivalent required Minimum 1-2 years of veterinary clinical experience preferred Strong communication and client service skills Ability to multitask and remain professional in a fast-paced environment Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal restraint, anesthesia monitoring, and common diagnostic procedures Proficiency with veterinary software and electronic medical records preferred Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds Ability to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods Ability to safely restrain animals of various sizes and temperaments Work Environment This position may involve exposure to: Animal odors, noises, and waste Bites, scratches, and zoonotic diseases Cleaning chemicals and medical substances Schedule Full-time or Part-time opportunities available Weekends off Some holidays may be required Compensation Compensation is based on experience, credentials, and skill level.
