Job Description

Bishop Ranch Veterinary Center & Urgent Care (BRVC) San Ramon, California Bishop Ranch Veterinary Center & Urgent Care (BRVC) is seeking an experienced, motivated, and team-oriented Veterinary Technician with a strong background and interest in exotic animal medicine to support the expansion of veterinary services for exotic companion pets. This position will work closely with Dr. Hayley Dieckmann and the BRVC medical team to provide high-quality nursing care, anesthesia monitoring, diagnostic support, hospitalization care, treatment assistance, and client education for a diverse range of exotic species including: Birds Rabbits Chinchillas Guinea Pigs Rats & Small Mammals Hamsters & Gerbils Reptiles Tortoises & Turtles Snakes & Lizards Pot Belly Pigs The ideal candidate is confident handling exotic species, comfortable assisting with anesthesia and surgical procedures, and excited to help develop and grow a progressive exotic medicine program within a fast-paced general practice and urgent care hospital. Candidates should also demonstrate : Excellent customer service and client communication skills Experience training and mentoring veterinary support staff Strong organizational and multitasking abilities A positive, collaborative, and solution-oriented attitude Comfort working in a dynamic and evolving hospital environment Hospital & Team Support Responsibilities Assist in developing and improving exotic medicine protocols and workflows Support inventory management and equipment recommendations for exotic patient care Train and mentor team members in exotic animal handling, nursing care, and anesthesia support Maintain OSHA, sanitation, and zoonotic disease safety standards Help foster a collaborative, supportive, and positive hospital culture QualificationsRequired Minimum of 3 years of veterinary technician experience in a clinical setting Comfortable handling a wide variety of exotic species Experience monitoring anesthesia and supporting surgical procedures Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment Positive attitude and strong team-oriented mindset Preferred RVT license preferred but not required Prior exotic medicine experience strongly preferred Urgent care or emergency veterinary experience is a plus Experience with exotic anesthesia and advanced patient monitoring highly valued Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly compensation based on experience: $30-40 per hour Additional compensation consideration for advanced exotic anesthesia and surgical experience Health insurance benefits available for eligible full-time employees Continuing Education (CE) allowance License and professional dues support 401(k) retirement plan with company match Two weeks paid vacation annually Employee pet care discounts Opportunities for continued professional growth and development within exotic medicine and advanced patient care services Why Join BRVC? $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
