Assistant Animal Technician

The Cat House Hotel, an award-winning, private CAT hotel specializing in "extended stays" and premium care for "special-needs" cats, seeks punctual individuals with a strong work ethic for part-time employment. Team-led management style. Vet Tech. or cat shelter experience a strong plus. Ideal for undergraduate students looking to gain unique knowledge regarding cat care and comfort. Must commit to work summer and Nov/Dec./Jan. 2025-26 holidays. Overtime pay for most Holidays, double time for Thanksgiving Thursday/Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Years Eve/Day.

Some shift examples:

7-11 A.M. and 1-5 P.M. (morning shifts begin at 7AM, afternoon shifts end at 5PM; shifts are 3-6 hours in length), open 7 days. 10-25 hrs. weekly. Ample shifts for student flexibility in a fun, dynamic job caring daily for 30-90 cats. Please provide detailed schedules and availability to work.

Job Overview:

• Perform daily care tasks for boarding cats, including but not limited to, feedings, medications, grooming, and cleaning litter boxes
• Handle daily hotel upkeep and cleaning, including washing dishes, doing laundry, and cleaning rooms daily
• Assist coworkers in maintaining detailed notes on cats who are boarding, and communicating any concerns to shift leads

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Ability to keep up with the physical requirements of this position (constant motion, thorough disinfecting, lifting up to 40 pounds, climbing ladders to access high areas around the hotel)
• Reliable transportation to our Santa Barbara facility
• Exceptional attention to detail and communication skills
• Strong multitasking abilities
• Basic knowledge of cat body language, and willingness to build on these skills through hands on instruction
