As a full-service animal healthcare center, Front Range Veterinary Clinic, part of the Suveto network of hospitals, seeks an experienced Lead Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team. We are equipped to diagnose and treat our clients' dogs and cats through all stages of life. The Lead Veterinary Technician supervises an exceptional group of licensed technicians and veterinary assistants dedicated to providing exceptional care to our patients. They must possess a strong work ethic, professional deportment, and leadership skills. The ability to hold people accountable for their commitments and responsibilities is essential. Demonstration of a can do, positive, and teamwork attitude is required. Full-time. $24.00 - $27.00 per hour.
R ESPONSIBILITIES
Performs duties of a Veterinary Technician Manage and provide for the patient's Triage patients and determine if patients are stable or Perform physical assessments and record observations legibly in Assist veterinarian in all aspects during surgical procedures; pre-medication, set up, induction, preparation, maintenance of general anesthesia, surgical monitoring, surgical assisting, recovery, writing post op orders and pain management Perform blood collection via all routes and ability to know best collection method based on individual patient needs or specific test Preparation of fluid therapy- infusion pump/syringe pump set up, appropriate IVF set up, fluid types and rates for administration, CRI calculations and Assist with dosage calculations and dispensing of medication including controlled substances as well as advanced emergency drug calculations, dosing and administering route protocols and common Monitor daily activities of in-hospital patients both stable or who require advanced monitoring. Communicate with doctors, technicians, office staff and clients regarding status of patients. Prepare patients for discharge to owners including client education about home care and medication to be Follow established hospital policies and procedures when handling client concerns and complaints. Document legibly and keep accurate medical records in accordance with hospital Clear understanding and enforcement of OSHA regulations and hospital safety standards. Clinical Leadership Assist the Practice Manager and Medical Director in developing an efficient, productive hospital team that provides the highest quality care and service. Provide leadership and guidance to veterinary technicians and assistants, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and adherence to established protocols and standards. Oversee the daily operation of the veterinary technician and assistant team Direct clinic traffic, help prioritize tasks, maintain a task list and delegate out task(s). Medical Development Plan and conduct internal training meetings with the help of veterinarians and appropriate staff members. Implement new medical procedures and management policies as directed by the veterinary staff. Maintain quality control for procedures; ensure tasks are completed as outlined in procedure manuals. Monitor whiteboard, treatments, invoicing, client communication are being completed in an accurate and timely manner. Employee Development Train and mentor new paraprofessional associates (RVT, VA, CSR). Prepare training requirements and oversee training of technical staff. Provide organized, scheduled training of all new patient care team employees. Assist in interviewing, hiring, and firing of technicians, assistants, and client service representatives. Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and identify opportunities for training or continuing education to enhance team members' capabilities. Address technician staff individually as needed for non-medical matters (for example, staying on schedule, client communications, etc.). Write and update staff schedule. Coordinate scheduling to cover staff illnesses and vacations. Coordinate communication between client care team and patient care team to ensure smooth daily operation of practice. Schedule, coordinate and conduct patient care team meetings. Participate in staff meetings and manager meetings Maintain a highly motivated, well-trained technical staff adequate to fulfill hospital needs. Supervise current staff or personally coordinate volunteers, student observers and technician students Responsible for implementing new policies and maintaining quality work to the standards set forth in the Front Range Veterinary Clinic's protocol manual. Financial Management Ensure that revenue transactions are properly recorded and all services provided charged. Work with doctors and exam room staff to be sure accurate estimates are provided to clients. Submit purchase requests for back-office supplies to business manager. Ensure expenses adhere to budget guidelines. Maintain Inventory including ordering, meeting with salespeople, maintain a two-week supply of all drugs, maintain computerized inventory management records, unpack and put away orders. Supervise controlled drug logs and inventory. Maintain updates with paperless programs and continuously strive to create better use of the program. (VetRec, Linked Products, Canned Estimates, Products, Inventory) Client Development Maintain professional environment in back office. Conduct training meetings in client relations for all technicians (for example, client disputes and complaints, etc.). Ensure that doctors and staff are effectively relaying information to clients and doing so frequently.
