Loyal client base with continued hospital growth Position Overview The Veterinary Assistant is a vital member of our team, supporting doctors and technicians while ensuring a smooth and efficient flow of patients and clients throughout the hospital. This is a full-time, on-site role . Schedules may vary and can include weekends, overtime, or on-call rotation as needed. This position requires standing for extended periods and occasional heavy lifting. Key Responsibilities Patient Care & Clinical Support Assist DVMs and technicians with appointments, treatments, surgery, and dental procedures Obtain patient histories and record accurate notes and charges during exams Safely handle and restrain pets (clients should not restrain patients) Obtain vital signs, including temperatures for medical cases Perform radiographs, monitor vitals, administer treatments, and run in-house lab work Prepare and dispense medications as directed Prepare discharge instructions and review with clients Prepare lab samples for transport to reference labs Surgery, Dental & Treatment Area Support Assist technicians in obtaining lab samples while minimizing separation time between client and pet Clean, sterilize, and prepare surgical instruments and packs daily Ensure exam rooms, treatment, surgery, and dental areas are clean, stocked, and organized Support patient monitoring during procedures Client Experience & Communication Greet clients professionally and maintain a calm, compassionate demeanor Accompany doctors in exam rooms to assist with workflow and communication Educate clients on preventive care, treatments, and hospital services Always ensure clients feel heard by asking: "Do you have any questions for me or the doctor?" Provide follow-up communication after visits or procedures Support emotional or grieving clients with empathy and professionalism Administrative & Financial Support Schedule appointments and manage hospital flow Prepare estimates and invoices; review financials with clients Process payments and assist with financing options (CareCredit/ScratchPay) Enter charges accurately and maintain proper medical records Fill prescriptions in-house or coordinate with outside pharmacies Team Support & Daily Operations Maintain a clean, professional hospital environment at all times Assist with callbacks, medication fills, and administrative tasks during downtime Support leadership with special projects as needed Follow all hospital protocols and compliance standards Arrive on time and contribute positively to a team-oriented cultureQualifications:
