Veterinary Technician 7860 Gate Parkway, Jacksonville, FL 32256 Full-time Full-time Job Overview Join our close-knit veterinary team as a Veterinary Technician, where your compassion and technical skills help us provide truly individualized care to every patient. As part of a small, privately owned practice, you'll work side-by-side with our veterinarians in a supportive, collaborative environment that values comfort, communication, and strong relationships with both pets and their families. In this role, you'll assist with medical procedures, patient care, and diagnostic work while ensuring each animal receives gentle, attentive handling. Because we are a tight-knit clinic, your contributions will have a direct impact on the quality of care we deliver and the experience our clients receive. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques. Perform animal restraint and handling with confidence, ensuring safety for both animals and staff during examinations or treatments. Conduct laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostic procedures to support accurate diagnoses. Maintain detailed records of patient histories, treatments, medication administration, and laboratory results with precision. Support pet care activities including grooming, feeding, administering medications, and monitoring recovery post-procedure. Handle X-ray imaging procedures accurately while ensuring proper animal positioning and safety protocols are followed. Assist with dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and supporting cleaning, polishing, or other dental treatments. Manage kennel duties including animal husbandry tasks such as cleaning enclosures, feeding pets, and monitoring behavior. Support pet owners by providing education on pet care, behavior training (such as dog training), and post-treatment instructions. Contribute to the team's success through animal catheterization, pet grooming, and applying veterinary critical care techniques when needed. Qualifications Good foundation for history taking, anesthesia technique, and veterinary terminology Experience with laboratory procedures such as sample collection or diagnostic testing preferred. Familiarity with dental terminology and procedures related to pet dental health is a plus. Ability to handle dogs confidently through dog handling skills or dog training knowledge; strong animal handling skills overall. Veterinary technician experience is highly valued; certification or licensing is a plus but not mandatory for entry-level candidates willing to learn. Skills in X-ray operation and interpretation support accurate diagnostics. Strong communication skills to educate pet owners effectively on pet care routines
