Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION LAKE EMMA ANIMAL HOSPITAL
is a multi-doctor, full-service, AAHA accredited veterinary medical facility with boarding located in Lake Mary, FL. We are looking for a team-oriented, hardworking and highly motivated part-time animal care technician.
JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Animal Care Manager, provides for the constant cleanliness of cages, runs, and outdoor areas. Provides the proper feeding and care of all boarding and some hospitalized patients.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
Cleans and sanitizes all cages, runs, wards, and related areas Gives baths (ordinary cleansing & medicated) and maintains constant cleanliness of each patient Recognizes and records any unusual condition or abnormal behavior of any boarding or hospitalized patient Feeds each patient as directed by owner and records appetites; keeps feeding areas clean and neat Receives patients to be admitted for boarding and bathing and is responsible for their proper identification and for recording their respective locations Releases patients to their owners and ensures that every animal released is clean and properly groomed (brushing, nail trimming, and ear cleaning) Assists doctors, veterinary nurses, veterinary nurse assistants, and other personnel with restraint when needed Completion of daily, weekly and monthly chore lists Other duties assigned as required
QUALIFICATIONS
Previous experience in the veterinary industry is preferred, but not required. All new hires must pass applicable drug (and/or background) prescreening requirements.
SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS
Availability to work rotating morning, evening, weekend and holiday shifts is required.
PHYSICAL EFFORT
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the primary functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently required to bend, stand, stoop, walk, sit, talk, and listen; may be required to walk or stand for long periods of time; will use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel; will reach with hands and arms. The team member is often required to lift and carry materials weighing fifty pounds or more; handle dogs weighing up to 150 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the team member is exposed to hazards associated with aggressive patients; hazards associated with infected animals and controlled substances; exposure to unpleasant odors and noises; exposure to bites, scratches and animal wastes; possible exposure to contagious diseases.
