Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques. Perform animal restraint and handling to ensure safety for both animals and staff during treatments or procedures. Conduct laboratory tests, prepare samples, and interpret basic results to aid in accurate diagnoses. Maintain detailed medical records, including vaccination histories, treatment plans, and laboratory findings with precision. Support pet care activities such as grooming, feeding, administering medications, and monitoring animal behavior for signs of distress or illness. Take and develop X-ray images, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed. Assist with dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and supporting cleaning or extraction processes. Handle animal catheterization, injections, and other veterinary critical care tasks with skill and confidence. Manage kennel duties including cleaning, feeding, and monitoring animals' health status to promote optimal animal husbandry practices. Provide dog training support and animal handling assistance to improve behavior and comfort during veterinary visits. Qualifications Previous experience working as a veterinary technician or in animal care settings is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and veterinary critical care procedures. Experience with laboratory techniques, X-ray imaging, aseptic technique, and pet grooming is advantageous. Ability to handle dogs confidently using dog handling skills; experience with equine or large animal handling is a plus. Familiarity with dental terminology related to veterinary dentistry procedures. Excellent animal husbandry skills including feeding, grooming, restraint, and general pet care practices. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail. Strong communication skills for collaborating with team members and educating pet owners about animal health needs.
