  • Full-time Pet Specialists of Hawaii | Waipahu, HI Pet Specialists of Hawaii (PSH), our veterinary technicians are essential to everything we do.
You'll work alongside a skilled, motivated, and compassionate specialty teams where your technical skills, judgment, and advocacy truly matter. Every day, you'll make a meaningful impact—improving patient health, supporting pet owners through education and empathy, and knowing you're backed by a team that genuinely supports one another. At PSH, we provide advanced, personalized veterinary care to pets across Oahu and neighboring islands. Our hospital is equipped with 7 exam rooms, digital radiology, CT imaging, and a fully equipped in-house laboratory , allowing our teams to practice high-quality, collaborative medicine. What You'll Do Perform advanced technical skills including physical exams, heart and lung auscultation, phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, and drug calculations and administration Assist with anesthetic induction, intubation, monitoring, recovery, and postoperative care Conduct ultrasound-guided cystocentesis and laboratory diagnostic evaluations Provide compassionate, attentive patient care and serve as a strong patient advocate Prepare and support patients during procedures while maintaining sterile technique when required Assist veterinarians during procedures by anticipating needs, passing instruments, performing retraction, suctioning, suturing and other supportive measures Communicate confidently and compassionately with clients, including proactive follow-up calls and emails Collaborate with referring veterinary hospitals to ensure clear, timely, and accurate information exchange Create and maintain detailed, accurate medical records and summarize pertinent medical history using computer medical record programs. Cross-train in all hospital departments to support team coverage and continued professional development Provide training, mentorship, and ongoing support to fellow team members to promote consistent, high-quality patient care across the hospital Set up and break down surgical and procedure equipment and supplies to ensure efficient, well-organized workflows Clean, process, and prepare instruments for proper sterilization and safe storage Participate in daily hospital opening and closing duties to support smooth operations and patient care What We're Looking For Veterinary Technician experience preferred Strong knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology Proficiency in phlebotomy and physical examinations Experience with radiology and diagnostic procedures Excellent communication skills with clients and fellow staff Valid Veterinary Technician License in Hawaii or ability to transfer an out-of-state license, currently in veterinary technician degree program considered.
