Job Description

Registered/Experienced Veterinary Technician Join Our Dynamic Team in Fort Wayne, Indiana and Beyond! Four Directions Vet (FDV) is seeking an experienced/registered veterinary technician to help in our mission to spay/neuter cats in the surrounding Fort Wayne area. Four Directions Vet (FDV) is a mobile, high quality/high volume spay and neuter (HQHVSN) veterinary clinic that works to provide low cost spay/neuter services in Northeast Indiana and Northwest Ohio. We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented veterinary technician to join our growing company and be part of the cornerstone of FDV. This role is heavily surgical and hinges extensively on providing anesthetic support for surgeries.
Job Type:
Part-time with Full-time potential.
Location:
Fort Wayne, IN (home-base), but travel can be within 1 hour of Fort Wayne. Compensation is provided for travelling over certain distances.
Salary:
$20 - $25 an hour dependent on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist veterinarian during exams with appropriate animal handling.
  • Administer and monitor anesthesia safely and effectively.
  • Prep animals for surgery.
  • Administer vaccines and venipuncture for preventative tests as requested.
  • Assist in the cleaning and care of mobile rig.
  • Assist in duties to prepare clinic daily for surgery.
  • Place endotracheal tubes and place IV catheters as needed.
  • Communicate with owners regarding discharge instructions and basic medical knowledge on services and products provided. Overall, client interaction is limited and mostly occurs at the time of surgery pick-up and drop-off.
  • Assist with afterhours phone on a scheduled basis. There is compensation for having the phone. We are very fair, both to employees and owners, about the times the afterhours phone is accessible to owners.
  • Work independently.
  • Assist in tasks outside of surgical care.
Qualifications:
  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) License highly preferred. Must have previous experience in providing anesthesia for surgical procedures.
  • Comfortable with working exclusively with cats.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a high-paced environment and maintain attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a smaller space with repetitive lifting, moving, bending and climbing.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs or less.
  • Ability to stand/sit for 8+ hours.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

  • We work Monday through Fridays, but not every day. A typical work week is 2-3 days a week, from 7:30am to 4/4:30pm. You will be paid a guaranteed 10 hours, with a paid 30-minute lunchbreak. There is also opportunity to work more hours, outside of normal surgery duties, during the week if desired.
