Job Description

The Cat Clinic of Lawrence is looking for a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our team! We're an AAHA Accredited and AAFP Cat Friendly Practice that provides feline-exclusive veterinary care. What you'll be working on Reporting to the Practice Manager, you'll manage patient medical cases, set and maintain IV catheters, perform blood draws, induce and monitor anesthesia, intubation, blood pressure measurement, give oral and injectable medications, chart notes in electronic medical software, complete digital x-rays, assist with ultrasound and endoscopy, run in-house labwork, prepare samples for outside lab, surgery assistance, maintenance of laboratory machines, set-up and analyze microscope samples, sterilization of surgical instruments and pack prep, dental scaling and polishing + dental x-rays, hospitalized patient treatments, and assist DVM and fellow veterinary team members with other duties as assigned. Veterinary technicians are highly utilized in our hospital, but that doesn't mean they may not have to occasionally assist our assistants to run exam room appointments, enter billing charges, fill prescription medications, educate clients, review treatment plan estimates and finance options, patient discharge, clean and sanitize hospital, laundry, and patient care. Schedule Full-time (32-40 hours) or part-time (20-29 hours) position with a schedule that may include half shifts (morning and/or afternoon), full shifts, and some Saturdays. Anticipated schedule to include weekdays, midday-closing shifts. Business hours are Mon-Fri 8am-5:30pm and Sat 8am-12pm. Morning shifts typically start by 7:30am, afternoon end by 6pm, and Sat end by 12:30pm. It's a plus if you're flexible to occasionally stay after scheduled shifts to assist if emergency patient presents, or open to cover other shifts as needed. Some Saturday availability is required. Rotating schedule for late night and weekend hospitalized patient treatments. Qualifications Experience working as a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) with current licensure in Kansas. In-person instruction and/or clinical experience preferred with proficiency with blood draws, IV catheter placement and maintenance, running labs, anesthesia induction and monitoring, x-ray, and surgery assistance. Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and work with a variety of clientele and team members with different backgrounds. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required. Low-stress handling and/or background in feline care a major plus! Must be at least 18 years old and high school diploma/equivalent is required. But most important of all, MUST love cats and be open to learning low-stress handling techniques. =^^= While we love all experience backgrounds, our hospital reserves the job title of Veterinary Technician for those who are credentialed (RVT).
