Veterinary Technician

Veterinary Technician Compassion Veterinary Center Schedule:

4 weekly shifts of 9-10 hours each, every 3rd Saturday 8-12.

Responsibilities:

• Assist veterinarians in providing medical care to animals
• Perform routine procedures such as vaccinations, blood draws, and dental cleanings
• Monitor and record vital signs of animals during procedures and surgeries
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
• Prepare animals for surgery, including prepping surgical sites and monitoring anesthesia
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of veterinary equipment and supplies
• Educate pet owners on proper animal care and medication administration
• Assist with animal restraint and handling during examinations and procedures

Skills:

• Strong dog handling skills, including the ability to safely restrain and handle dogs of various sizes and temperaments
• Knowledge of veterinary practices, procedures, and terminology
• Experience in dog training or behavior modification techniques is a plus
• Proficient in animal care, including feeding, grooming, and basic health monitoring
• Familiarity with aseptic technique to maintain a sterile environment during surgeries and procedures
• Understanding of hospital management and sanitation practices
• Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and fellow team members
