- Full-time Brenner Animal Hospital is seeking an
EXPERIENCED
veterinary technician this vital role, you will assist veterinarians with medical procedures, provide compassionate animal handling, and ensure the highest standards of pet care. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will contribute to a positive, efficient, and caring environment dedicated to improving animal health and well-being. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques. Perform animal restraint and handling with confidence, ensuring safety for both animals and staff during examinations or treatments. Conduct laboratory tests, prepare samples, and operate diagnostic equipment such as Digital X-ray, dental digital X-ray, and a complete Idexx in-house lab. Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments following veterinary protocols while monitoring animal responses. Maintain detailed medical records, update patient charts, and document procedures accurately to ensure compliance with clinic standards. Support pet owners with pet care advice, feeding guidelines, and post-operative instructions. Our techs will learn skills they may not be proficient in including dentistry. We strive to have techs do everything a tech should do. Dr. Brenner is a skilled teacher and previously sat on the board of the Maryland Tech School. Requirements Strong understanding of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and critical care practices. Hands-on experience with laboratory procedures, X-ray operation, animal catheterization, and aseptic techniques. Excellent dog handling skills along with proficiency in animal restraint. Knowledge of dental terminology for assisting with dental procedures or cleanings. Prior veterinary technician experience is required.. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude and attention to detail.
