In this energetic role, you will support veterinarians with clinical procedures, animal handling, and client communication, ensuring every patient receives compassionate, high-quality care. This paid position offers a rewarding environment where your skills in animal husbandry, laboratory work, and veterinary techniques are valued and expanded daily. Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment. Handle animals safely and confidently using proper restraint techniques to ensure their comfort and safety during treatments. Perform laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and sample collection to aid in accurate diagnosis. Maintain detailed medical records, including patient histories, treatment plans, and vaccination schedules. Support pet owners with pet care advice, grooming, feeding instructions, and post-operative care guidance. Conduct animal restraint for procedures like catheterization or injections while ensuring minimal stress for the animals. Operate diagnostic equipment such as X-ray machines and assist with radiographic procedures to support accurate imaging. Manage kennel duties including cleaning, feeding, and monitoring hospitalized animals to promote recovery and well-being. Requirements Proven kennel experience with a strong understanding of animal husbandry practices. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and aseptic techniques. Experience with dental terminology and assisting with dental procedures is preferred. Demonstrated veterinary technician experience or equivalent training in veterinary critical care settings. Laboratory experience including sample processing and analysis is highly desirable. Familiarity with equine handling or experience working with horses is a plus. Ability to handle dogs confidently through training in dog handling and pet grooming skills. Strong animal handling skills combined with knowledge of pet care best practices. Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and educate pet owners on animal care needs.
