Job Description

Veterinary Technician Murphy Animal Hospital Join Our Team as a Veterinary Technician at Murphy Animal Hospital! Are you passionate about animal care and eager to make a difference in the lives of pets and their owners? Murphy Animal Hospital is looking for a dedicated and compassionate full-time Veterinary Technician to join our team. We prefer candidates with RVT, CVT, or LVT certifications with rehab experience would be a plus.

Our unique practice seamlessly blends a cozy small-town ambiance with the high-quality care associated with larger city hospitals. As a comprehensive veterinary care provider, we offer a wide array of services, including wellness exams, immunizations, advanced surgery, state-of-the-art digital radiography, a complete in-house laboratory suite, cutting-edge dental radiography, geriatric medicine, sports and rehabilitation medicine featuring laser therapy, massage therapy, shock wave therapy, chiropractic care, therapeutic exercises, and hydrotherapy. Additionally, we offer boarding, day care, grooming services, and extend our medical expertise to support various rescue groups in our community.
Work-Life Balance:
We value work-life balance and offer a four-shift work week with one weekday off. Our hospital closes on Saturdays, Sundays, and major holidays. Operational hours are Monday through Thursday, 8am to 6pm, and Friday, 8am to 5pm.

Duties:
  • Assist veterinarians with examinations, surgeries, and procedures
  • Perform laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and fecal examinations
  • Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by veterinarians
  • Obtain blood samples and place IV catheters
  • Provide restraint of patients to assist with exams and patient care
  • Properly perform medical treatments on patients including administering PO, IM, Sub Q and IV medications
  • Prepare animals for surgery and monitor their anesthesia during procedures
  • Provide post-operative care and monitor recovery progress
  • Perform dental cleanings and assist with dental procedures
  • Educate pet owners on proper animal care, medication administration, and preventive health measures
  • Maintain accurate medical records for all patients
  • Clean and sterilize equipment and maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Assist with rehab consultations including laser therapy and hydrotherapy
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate's degree in veterinary technology preferred
  • Previous experience working as a Veterinary Technician
  • Initiative-taking team players with a positive attitude
