You will be highly leveraged to perform all tasks where a veterinarian is not required. The ideal person is proficient in the following skills: taking patient histories, client education, animal handling and restraint, obtaining blood samples, placing IV catheters, performing in-house lab work, digital x-ray, caring for hospitalized pets, surgical assistance, computer skills, and client communication over the phone. You should enjoy a fast paced environment and have a knack for recognizing what needs to be done and have the ability to accomplish it. Duties and Responsibilities:

Checks patient medical records for past histories, enters in computer and files. Takes medical histories and vital signs of patients.

• Maintains client educational material in an efficient manner.
• Performs departmental housekeeping duties.
• Admits and discharges patients.
• Takes, processes and logs prescription refills in-house, call out pharmacy and online pharmacy.
• Monitoring hospital patients and logging vital signs.
• Administering medications to patients as needed.
• Placing catheters and performing blood draws.
• Restraining and assisting the doctor during exams, treatments, and anesthesia procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Registered Veterinary Technicians in Missouri are preferred.
